Unit 6: HOW ARE THINGS MADE?

Our world is full of different materials and, although you already know some of them, in this unit we are going to learn some new words related to materials.

Now, let’s see if it´s easier for you to learn the vocabulary by playing this game.

 

To talk about the basic materials or qualities of something, we use made of.  It has a meaning similar to ‘composed of’. Let´s see the structure made of.

We are aware about the importance of taking care about our environment and a good way to do it and to develop our imagination and creativity is to reuse materials. Here you have an example of very typical and common materials that we can reuse: materials to be reused.

 

Now we are going to learn a new grammar structure that we use when we don´t know, when it is obvious, or when we don´t want to say who or what is doing an action, which is PRESENT PASSIVE.

These videos explain the difference between active voice and passive voice: when passive voice is mainly used, subject pronouns and object pronouns, 'doer' and 'receiver' of the action...

UNIT 5: WHAT POSSESSIONS ARE IMPORTANT TO YOU?


We all have things that are really important to us... some can have economic value and some others can have emotional value... Anyway it would be difficult to imagine life without them... can you think of something you couldn't live without?

Here you will find some examples of "important possessions."

Could you remember all of them? Let's see...


When we are talking about someone or something, in order not to repeat the same word in our speech, we can substitute the noun with a pronoun. This time we will learn one type of pronouns which are not subjects but objects... Let's see the OBJECT PRONOUNS.

UNIT 4: HOW DO WE GET AROUND?



These days moving around is getting more and more difficult due to the extreme weather conditions and the restrictions because of the pandemic... however, we can still visit new places with our imagination...

So let's learn first some words to talk about locations in our town...

When we are visiting a place for the first time, it is very useful to be able to ask for directions. And we also need to learn how to give directions to people who ask us how to get to a place in our town.

To give information about people, objects, places or things we have, we use a type of words called RELATIVE PRONOUNS. Click here to learn how they work.

UNIT 3: HOW DOES NATURE AFFECT US?

It's winter time and the freezing cold weather reminds us of it every day...



It seems nature sometimes plays hard... and not only in winter... but the whole year round...

To speak about things that happened in the past, it is useful to know how we can combine the Past Simple and the Past Continuous within the same sentence.
